In case you live under a rock, this past weekend in the United States, 50k people in NYC, 70k in Seattle, 200k in LA and 100k in Philly (among millions of others all over the world) showed up for their neighbors and for democracy with No Kings Day.
My mama, living in a small reddish town in the middle of the high desert in Washington state (yes, we have desert here, and yes it’s weird for her to go from 60+ years in the rainforest to that climate), didn’t realize that there was a protest in her town.
So she marched around her living room with the dog, yelled “NO KINGS” at my dad and took a nap. Resistance comes in all forms.
So I posted this on Threads, and well…
She got more views and likes on this than there were attendees at another event that weekend (where they tried to pay people in Monopoly money to attend and even that didn’t work).
So now she’s internet famous, has like 150 internet kids she’s adopted and wants to do videos to give advice to all of her “kids.”
I’ve created a monster … and I don’t really mind!
